Rebecca Kessler is a journalist and editor based in Providence, RI. She specializes in science and environmental issues, and has done extensive reporting on oceans, wildlife, climate, pollutants, and agriculture. Her writing, from breaking news to in-depth features and cover stories, has appeared in such publications as the New York Times, Yale Environment 360, Discover, Conservation, Natural History, ClimateCentral.org, Environmental Health Perspectives, ScienceNOW, ScienceInsider, and National Geographic Daily News, among others. So has some of her photography.
A former senior editor at Natural History magazine, she has helped coax fascinating scientific storytelling from the keyboards of dozens of leading researchers and writers in fields as disparate as astronomy, archaeology, medicine, wildlife biology, and climate science. In addition to journalism, she does some editorial work for magazines, book publishers, and authors. She has an MA from the Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program at New York University and a BS in Botany and in Arts and Ideas from the University of Michigan.
